<br />
Lots of places have souvenir thimbles which can be taken home as a small memento of a journey to a far away place, a visit to an historic building, a theme park, or even a popular tourist attraction. <br />
<br />
Most of the souvenir thimbles in my collection have either been given to me by friends and relatives or purchased in charity shops or from ebay. Rather than being a record of places that I have been they are more of a wish list - a thimble trail of places I would like to visit.<br />
<br />
One of my friends brought this back from a recent trip to Scotland.<br />

<br />
Time flies doesn't it? Seems like only yesterday when I last posted to this blog. Can't believe it was March 2015! I think I must have been asleep because I have no idea why it has taken so long to post.<br />
<br />
</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieWsuxi69Esx7Qppk58jLtohzBOC5BqZMMNdTccozGykJKYBm5A9QtPxrMRKYMacLENEJ5EEZlarauTmkBxxJjS8tBfqo5U4YRpNC4lMN441T6rDOJYGBxXm4J8-iM-qYNEh05JYMvk-E/s1600/Ladies+Cropped.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="142" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieWsuxi69Esx7Qppk58jLtohzBOC5BqZMMNdTccozGykJKYBm5A9QtPxrMRKYMacLENEJ5EEZlarauTmkBxxJjS8tBfqo5U4YRpNC4lMN441T6rDOJYGBxXm4J8-iM-qYNEh05JYMvk-E/s320/Ladies+Cropped.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
These thimbles show the passage of time. All of it a lot before mine, I hasten to add. These little ladies show the changes in fashion in the United States from 1900 through to 1947. Originally part of a collection from Avon in the1980s.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
These four are 1923, 1938, 1942 & 1947.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://simplystitchy.blogspot.com/2020/08/20s-fashion-60s-style.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">The 1920s</a> must have been a great decade for fashion in the US, with 3 examples from that era included in the collection. In fact the 20s were a time of great change and not just for clothes. It was the interim period between two world wars. People thought that with the end of the First World War, conflict was over and there was a new, vibrant, buzz for the future. It was the age of bobbed hair, the Charleston and automobiles. <br />
<br />
I must admit it was Miss 1923 that first attracted me to this set. She's the one with the blue hat, lilac top and chunky scarf. Isn't she lovely? I can just see her sitting behind the wheel of a 1920's car, wind in her face, grinning from ear to ear as she tootles around town, scarf flapping behind her. I wouldn't mind a scarf like that. It's perishing cold outside at the moment. She looks so snug.<br />
<br />
My second favourite is the one on the far right. Miss 1947. Such a lovely shade of purple and would you just look at that hat? Another post-war era. Relaxed times with relaxed clothes. She looks the most laid back of all of them. Ready for a nice, peaceful stroll along the river bank on a warm sunny day.<br />
<br />
This collection has been discontinued for some time now which is a shame. It misses the fashions of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Although thinking about it, the 70s was all flairs and funny colour combinations... maybe missing that decade is justifiable. <br />
<br />

So imagine my surprise when I found out that the White
Steamer was made by the same company that made White Sewing Machines. How cool
is that?</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
When Thomas White, the founder of the White Sewing Machine
Company bought a steam car back in the 1890s, it inspired his son, Rollin White
to develop a steam generator which was made up of stacked coils. Water was pumped into the top of the coils
with steam being produced in the bottom coils closest to the fire. Not only did
his design allow water input to be regulated, it also allowed temperature
control. He patented the design describing it as being a quicker, safer and
more economical way to generate steam power.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Even with the improvements though, the engines still had to
warm up enough to start producing steam. That’s probably why the combustion
engine became more popular. It was a lot quicker to get going.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Eventually, when steam power could no longer compete, the
<a href="https://www.sealcoveautomuseum.org/the-1910-white-steam-car-one-of-three-m-ms/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">White Motor Company</a> switched to combustion engines for their cars. They also
made trucks, buses and tractors. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I’m glad that their sewing machines went electric though. Not
sure a petrol powered sewing machine would have been very healthy. And can you
imagine having to sit about and wait for a steam machine to warm up before you
could sew? It would be like watching a kettle! </div>

<br />
It's amazing what you find hiding on your desktop when you're looking for something else. I don't mean an actual desktop, I'm talking about the desktop on my laptop.<br />
<br />
When I'm working on something, I always save it to my desktop so I can find it. It's a trait that really, really annoys the IT people I've worked with. You see, the more stuff you have on your desktop, the harder the computer has to work just to wake up in the mornings.<br />
<br />
Somedays, I know just how it feels.<br />
<br />
You see, every document and photo sitting on your desktop becomes part of the starting sequence or boot-up routine for your computer. The more it has to load, the longer it takes to start. Until, eventually, you've got time to go pop the kettle on, make a cup of tea, come back, drink it... and still have to wait ten minutes for the PC to wake up.<br />
<br />
IT techies everywhere, fed up with solving problems caused by overloaded desktops are yelling, "Use Shortcuts!"<br />
<br />
My desktop gets so overloaded that I hear them yell, "ALVIN!" whenever I call for help. Which brings me to the point of this post.<br />
<br />
By the<b> </b>time I'd sifted though my assortment of icons, I'd forgotten what I was looking for. Totally distracted by all the overlooked goodies on there, I came across this picture.<br />
<br />
A set of The Flintstones thimbles. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicREbPRIzo9KAuY4QjAOrPuR-TDh1SbpjGs7yhc-HPUgxrJohKkyqzTbMriUaRnUyALbO4TAzzgKpI5aifkenXiVUvsjdQRSZFcTkwovjGkRDYzKv5VSsT0uzNe4xeslPu5afrzIn6mkc/s1600/DSCN2370.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicREbPRIzo9KAuY4QjAOrPuR-TDh1SbpjGs7yhc-HPUgxrJohKkyqzTbMriUaRnUyALbO4TAzzgKpI5aifkenXiVUvsjdQRSZFcTkwovjGkRDYzKv5VSsT0uzNe4xeslPu5afrzIn6mkc/s320/DSCN2370.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I've no idea how long it had been there, but thought it was quite fitting. As I don't have any Alvin or Chipmunk thimbles...yet, The Flintstones are the next best thing.<br />
<br />
With Fred normally in over his head his cry of, "WILMA!", is this show's equivalent to the long suffering Dave's forlorn rebuttal to the most troublesome of chipmunks.<br />
<br />
Sitting by the side of it was this picture for some long forgotten blog that I never got around to writing.<br />
<br />

<a href="https://simplythimbles.blogspot.com/2011/06/pewter.html" target="_blank">Pewter</a> teddies. Looking more than a little bit menacing. A bit like the IT guys who have to fix my tech gadgets. I'm sure that one second in from the right is shaking his fist at me... <br />
<br />
OK! OK! From here on in, instead of saving to the desktop, I'll save it to my documents folder and then save a shortcut to the desktop.<br />
<br />
Got to keep the IT Teddies happy!<br />

Hi all,</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">Most people will be aware that man
first landed on the moon in 1969. What might not be so well known is
that the world's first supersonic flight was also in 1969.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Supersonic means faster than the speed
of sound which at around 768 miles per hour, is pretty quick.
Although not as quick as 7 miles per second which is the speed Apollo
11 had to travel to escape Earth's gravitational field. 1969 was definitely the year for
speed.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Up until 1st October 1969,
flights had been subsonic, meaning that they were slower than the
speed of sound. Concorde's first supersonic flight meant people could now travel across the globe in a
fraction of the time.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSoCyXgeW5jQZZB5WFJkJ91kRjTrUbOASPy_zCmIbEJFlnxAc_C0wg8ON9XjNlftA0iUGasu5vVH97x655B3-sZzXkSgNDDZ0RuTKXhKcmI9phXwIFpXbpA4lwNYqkTaIdix1SQJNZu18/s1600/Concord.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSoCyXgeW5jQZZB5WFJkJ91kRjTrUbOASPy_zCmIbEJFlnxAc_C0wg8ON9XjNlftA0iUGasu5vVH97x655B3-sZzXkSgNDDZ0RuTKXhKcmI9phXwIFpXbpA4lwNYqkTaIdix1SQJNZu18/s320/Concord.jpg" width="258" /></a></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Concorde was a collaborative project
between the UK and France and was heralded as a triumph in modern
engineering. The planes were operated by Air France and British
Airways. The name was chosen to reflect the partnership between the
two countries. The words “Concorde” in French and “Concord”
in English, mean the same. They both mean agreement.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Concorde's first commercial flight was
in 1976. With a cruise speed of 1350mph, she could make London to
New York in a little over 3.5 hours. The time in a normal plane was
around 8 hours.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Unfortunately, Concorde was expensive
to run and maintain. Not everyone liked the planes flying overhead due to the loud sonic boom whenever they broke the sound barrier. Air France and British Airways jointly announced
the retirement of Concorde in 2003. The last Concorde flight for Air
France was on 27 June 2003. Concorde's last commercial flight for
British Airways was on 23 October 2003. I'd love to know if October was a coincidence or if it was chosen as a nod to that very first supersonic flight back in 1969.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
These days surviving Concordes can be viewed by the public at <a href="https://www.daftlogic.com/information-locations-of-concorde-planes.htm" target="_blank">locations</a> around the globe. Obviously, things change so make sure the plane is still available to view at your chosen location before making a long trip. </div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCFdS_S3-3tZs6-9htqGf2jEy6Yt5POSpb5fHbMKZ7KQ1T7_yyktRBbvHakqllp25i4l6wk0-giywXU0unvsd01qTyxLD4ypcvwMBiyKv-_V3SOxjZU5ABFbEZaJLXi0nSaT9AlRiyhl4/s1600/Dads+Army.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="176" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCFdS_S3-3tZs6-9htqGf2jEy6Yt5POSpb5fHbMKZ7KQ1T7_yyktRBbvHakqllp25i4l6wk0-giywXU0unvsd01qTyxLD4ypcvwMBiyKv-_V3SOxjZU5ABFbEZaJLXi0nSaT9AlRiyhl4/s320/Dads+Army.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
These guys are the characters from Dad's Army, a British TV comedy from the 1970s. It was a sit-com about the Home Guard during the Second World War. <br />
<br />
Originally called Local Defence Volunteers, the Home Guard was made up of men who were either too young or too old to enlist. Most were too old. Hence the nick-name Dad's Army. Their job was to defend the home front against possible invasion. In the early days, the Local Defence volunteers had to wait for equipment as the regular army had priority. This is where most of the more comic moments of the TV series came from. The never-ending enthusiasm to invent ways of hindering an invasion using whatever tools they had to hand. The re-runs are still popular today. An everlasting tribute to the real band of Dads and Grandads, all of them volunteers, who watched over and protected our coastline and homes.<br />
<br />
Dad's Army is and always will be one of my all time favourite comedies. Which is why I read with some sadness today that Bill Pertwee, the actor who played Warden Hodges, has passed away. <br />
<br />
So this is my tribute to the cast of Dad's Army the series:<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hi there,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ironing has never been one of my favourite pastimes. I know it's something that has to be done but I always put it off. Usually because I've found something better to do. There is a pile of washing waiting for me right now, nicely stacked in the airing cupboard, waiting patiently. It's going to be there a long time, or at least until I run out of other clothes. I'd honestly rather de-ice the freezer than pick up an iron. I'm not alone. I know lots of people who hate ironing and find it a boring chore. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Why is that? Why is it such a chore? Is it because it hurts when you accidentally iron your fingers as well as that tricky hem that just will not lie flat? It never ceases to amaze me that we can fly across the globe, we've even sent man to the moon and yet, after all this time, we are still ironing clothes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These days ironing is easy. With fabric conditioners, modern fabrics and hi-tech modern irons, it really is a breeze compared to what it must have been like before electricity and easy-care fabrics. Imagine what it must have been like in the days when irons were actually made out of iron. They must have weighed a ton. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAgj-pF-hVzGRQ5Ea4-15iTPIZz-3wowcHgDvVRTs7tq4FtF5Gs_e8AhsG-s6v-Bgz58bt9CTA1sl5w42TP9ZLeXweRTUISWutb4hOTeizmFp5EnmlEQcUNFAGEnWjJfHnyuv0l-EjL7c/s1600/DSCN1825.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAgj-pF-hVzGRQ5Ea4-15iTPIZz-3wowcHgDvVRTs7tq4FtF5Gs_e8AhsG-s6v-Bgz58bt9CTA1sl5w42TP9ZLeXweRTUISWutb4hOTeizmFp5EnmlEQcUNFAGEnWjJfHnyuv0l-EjL7c/s1600/DSCN1825.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This iron must have been one of the heaviest. It's a charcoal iron. Yes, you did read that right. A charcoal iron. An iron you fill with charcoal, hot from the fire. It would have been very heavy and very hot. I wouldn't fancy ironing my fingers with this! Our ancestors sure had it tough. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEpTqJIu6pSxZ1laj3uHWoRqyzhGKg1TyuZI3-r5VuSfQe2G2ZjiWoM6ZT0nU3s0URIkN9ET9ibpss4tRJQxCtzl-uCG5tdBLLTCYtascsVVWw_HKnVrRB-Vsn7aD8AyOO-s7STJDE9FE/s1600/DSCN1826.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEpTqJIu6pSxZ1laj3uHWoRqyzhGKg1TyuZI3-r5VuSfQe2G2ZjiWoM6ZT0nU3s0URIkN9ET9ibpss4tRJQxCtzl-uCG5tdBLLTCYtascsVVWw_HKnVrRB-Vsn7aD8AyOO-s7STJDE9FE/s1600/DSCN1826.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
All things considered I think I'll stick with my nice, light, modern steam iron. Now I know just how easy <a href="https://bit.ly/2un9Ogf" target="_blank">ironing</a> is today, I might just start doing it more often. I've still got that pile in the airing cupboard. Although, I have enough clothes to see me through for a few days... Umm... I think I might just go and disinfect the wheelie bin...<br />
<br />
Bye for now<br />

<br />
Hi there<br />
<br />
I found this thimble at a local car boot sale for 50p. It's Inspector Clouseau from The Pink Panther cartoon series. I love the way that thimbles can turn back the years and remind me of things that I didn't even know I had forgotten. One minute I'm walking around a car boot sale on a wet and windy present-day Saturday, the next I'm transported back to the care-free sunny Saturdays of youth, sitting cross-legged on the floor, eyes glued to our first ever colour TV. Well, not literally obviously, it's a thimble not a time machine. <br />
<br />
Anyway, the slight down-side is that thimbles can highlight the passing of time. When Eldest and Youngest saw this little guy, they hadn't got a clue who he was. Watching him on Youtube didn't help much. They thought it was too slow and didn't really get the humour. They thought it was weird.<br />
<br />
These days they are into sparkly vampires and Manga. Ah kids. They have this uncanny knack of making you feel... old!<br />
<br />

<br />
Aluminium (aluminum) is a light metal which is workable from cold and although it can corrode, it doesn't go rusty. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="border-color: currentcolor; border-style: none; border-width: medium; clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtPs5MxoRAExNy10fCG_tuUDmXtmzw6641_s63M0KnePmySA-IWfBxlJUly9FV155_2AD23nA08FTZUhBdJ7cBqdAzfKcCTIwMhol5KdlkCrtlN8o-MCKKGbVc_PsZZyI9TsnENdGDMV8/s1600/Aluminium+Bisto.jpg" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" qda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtPs5MxoRAExNy10fCG_tuUDmXtmzw6641_s63M0KnePmySA-IWfBxlJUly9FV155_2AD23nA08FTZUhBdJ7cBqdAzfKcCTIwMhol5KdlkCrtlN8o-MCKKGbVc_PsZZyI9TsnENdGDMV8/s320/Aluminium+Bisto.jpg" width="242" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgk20Pc4jC-IMTnjGeUFVawSMSlReOqFEsHil94MnxCiKSc8Iw9kYkO0yiF7YFmWUJrkXjO2x3JNtiouIvTLzIKoFiRtVFCFk7m1O2iwI_XerfMro2U0eUvvpPvAkpO7LEtD0noIHlQ_8/s1600/Aluminium+Symington+Coffee.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" qda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgk20Pc4jC-IMTnjGeUFVawSMSlReOqFEsHil94MnxCiKSc8Iw9kYkO0yiF7YFmWUJrkXjO2x3JNtiouIvTLzIKoFiRtVFCFk7m1O2iwI_XerfMro2U0eUvvpPvAkpO7LEtD0noIHlQ_8/s320/Aluminium+Symington+Coffee.jpg" width="291" /></a></div>

<div style="border-color: currentcolor; border-style: none; border-width: medium; clear: both; text-align: left;">
The metal has the same drawback as silver though - it is incredibly soft and damages easily. </div>
<br />
I came across this thimble in a local second hand shop. It was part of a block purchase that I picked up for 50p.<br />

Its 90% aluminium, 4% copper about 1% magnesium and a little bit of manganese. This makes a very hard, durable aluminium alloy called Duralumin. Duralumin was discovered in 1910 by a German man called Alfred Wilm. It was first used for aeroplane parts in the first world war, but it didn't take long for other industries to catch on to the benefits of using the stronger alloy. </div>

Stratnoid is a brand name for Laughton & Sons of Birmingham who not only produced millions of these stronger aluminium thimbles between the 1920s - 1940s, but also made compacts, knitting needles, crochet hooks, pin cushions... It never ceases to amaze me how an invention designed for one industry can be so practical and brilliant in another. </div>

<br />
Hi all,<br />
<br />
According to the back of the thimble these two comic characters are Arthur Stanley Jefferson and Oliver Norvell Hardy. Better known to millions as Laurel and Hardy or even more simply as Stan and Ollie.<br />
<br />
I have some fond childhood memories of watching re-runs of Laurel and Hardy on the TV with my family. They had an innocent comical magic that could appeal to all ages. Slapstick at its very best.<br />
<br />
Oliver is probably the most famous Ollie that I know of and is one of the reasons why I am called Olly. When I first started school, my friends caught on to the fact that my proper name, Olwen, is very similar to Oliver. It didn't take long for everyone to start calling me Olly and it stuck. <br />
<br />
Now there are a few things about Stan and Ollie that I didn't know until I bought this thimble. The first one is that Stan's surname was Jefferson, Laurel was just his stage name. The second is that Oliver was born Norvell Hardy so wasn't really an Ollie at all. But then what's in a name? If this comic duo had gone by any other name, they would still have been unique, funny and completely irreplacable... dread to think what my nickname would have ended up being though.<br />
<br />

<br />
I'm finally starting to get settled again after moving for the second time in 6 months! <br />
<br />
I've picked up a few thimbles over the last few weeks, all of which went straight into a box and I've only just had the chance to take a good look at them and to take photos of them.<br />
<br />
This first one is a Morris Minor, also known as a "Moggie".<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqNN0kEv743SkoURm3A3Wts6bgEAgssI3AdadvjVF4TM7Eh-7ZhAoxf43PMuFnmi3noLPYMCf_EZ8eyD6nN1jlBxQ2bsSqDJoFVEPmu8wK3NKsd0MI0C6K5HFkUu884LdXVtktlyFmllI/s1600/001_Morris+Minor+1948+-+1998.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" oda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqNN0kEv743SkoURm3A3Wts6bgEAgssI3AdadvjVF4TM7Eh-7ZhAoxf43PMuFnmi3noLPYMCf_EZ8eyD6nN1jlBxQ2bsSqDJoFVEPmu8wK3NKsd0MI0C6K5HFkUu884LdXVtktlyFmllI/s320/001_Morris+Minor+1948+-+1998.jpg" width="253" /></a></div>
The Moggie was designed by Alex Issigonis and went on sale for the first time back in 1948. Alex Issigonis also developed my favourite car, the Mini in 1959. <br />
<br />
I'm not sure why the Morris Minor got the nickname of moggie but it was so popular that in 1961 it became the first British car to reach 1,000,000. This milestone was celebrated by the production of a limited number of Lilac moggies. What a cool colour for a car. I think that's really sweet.<br />
<br />
Sticking with the Moggies theme, this thimble is also really sweet.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

As long as you are not the little chick...<br />

Well, technically it was T who spotted it first. He pointed it out to me as he thought it looked wierd.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdGgqVCT9qDa06H8HE6T7COh9zW4kA3irGpVfxIBBi_EpsHZG-dK5pUtvB08P3IMU9a58y1qTSnFsqrKqL1umycNSROc9H788o8gqjg53S6_YP5dVZ7s3CWXVF9ke4w2UpuIGkeqbxmZE/s1600/001_Stanhope.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdGgqVCT9qDa06H8HE6T7COh9zW4kA3irGpVfxIBBi_EpsHZG-dK5pUtvB08P3IMU9a58y1qTSnFsqrKqL1umycNSROc9H788o8gqjg53S6_YP5dVZ7s3CWXVF9ke4w2UpuIGkeqbxmZE/s320/001_Stanhope.jpg" t="" true="" width="253" /></a></div>
It’s made from metal, possibly brass, and has a small round hole at the top.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-Sb-qanZB3tEhDB7e2IBHS-jzKLWhVnXZ0KWSoeTK7W1QGrybYRPUahYAAHgK2j3KTi112uQjRynWJpo7pHFBpZeGXOi0uQTP1xwzR3AXzqGat9Uf7lQrOJzb62IlBmsxJdxGmzCTJKI/s1600/003_Stanhope+Top.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="293" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-Sb-qanZB3tEhDB7e2IBHS-jzKLWhVnXZ0KWSoeTK7W1QGrybYRPUahYAAHgK2j3KTi112uQjRynWJpo7pHFBpZeGXOi0uQTP1xwzR3AXzqGat9Uf7lQrOJzb62IlBmsxJdxGmzCTJKI/s320/003_Stanhope+Top.jpg" t="" true="" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It's a peephole thimble, otherwise known as a Stanhope thimble. It has an inbuilt lens for viewing micro pictures. You put the top of the thimble up to your eye, tilt towards the light and you can view the little tiny picture inside. <br />
<br />
The pictures inside could be of famous people, historic events, seaside resorts. Some could even have been a touch risqué. Basically, they are souvenirs or novelties. Unfortunately, the picture in this one has been lost so I can only guess at what it might have been. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD9avEehzrpTdd_ER-zibvTJ6zxBPTd-TkvlamTBAcQNEiBkN5PM-MPHuo1t6lJ46CZyuqrBwgbKrbYnB2HLFHHgMaWOFG3E0U3CT1Ge6GsAXprj7O5anZqQIPU5PqF0FAe3PcjwSMFzk/s1600/002_Stanhope+inside.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD9avEehzrpTdd_ER-zibvTJ6zxBPTd-TkvlamTBAcQNEiBkN5PM-MPHuo1t6lJ46CZyuqrBwgbKrbYnB2HLFHHgMaWOFG3E0U3CT1Ge6GsAXprj7O5anZqQIPU5PqF0FAe3PcjwSMFzk/s320/002_Stanhope+inside.jpg" t="" true="" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The name Stanhope refers to the lens on the inside and is named after the 3rd Earl of Stanhope who is generally accepted as being the inventor of this style of lens. He didn’t invent it for looking at micro pictures in souvenirs though. He died in 1816 before Microphotography was even thought of.<br />
<br />
Microphotography was invented around 1839 by John Benjamin Dancer. Although innovative, Dancer’s microphotography had a bit of a drawback. It needed a microscope to view it. <br />
<br />
In 1859 René Dagron had a flash of inspiration. He put Stanhope’s lens and the microphotography together which made it possible for the pictures to be viewed without the need for a microscope. Simply brilliant!<br />

It's an open air theatre perched on the side of a cliff just a little way up the coast from Lands End near a little village called Porthcurno. <br />
<br />
T, Eldest, Youngest and I have never been to the Minack Theatre so we thought this would be a prime opportunity to put that right.<br />

We went to see Madam Butterfly.<br />

A very sad tale of betrayal and lost love. Now, the play itself was pretty good. I couldn't understand all the singing. It was a bit high pitched and the sound kept dropping out if the actors moved away from centre stage, but that didn't really matter as you can pick up the general idea of what is going on by just watching. <br />
<br />
I can't really say that I was impressed by The Minack Theatre though. There are signs as you enter the Theatre part which say that the site can be a bit dangerous. If you ever go there - they are not kidding. The walkways are steep. The terraces that you sit on are narrow. There is no room for bags and don't take a picnic - you won't have room to eat it. They pack as many people as possible onto each terrace so that you are literally touching shoulders. If you move your feet too far forward, you run the risk of kicking the person in front of you in the back of the head. Nice.<br />
<br />
But it isn't the cramped conditions that have left me feeling betrayed. It wasn't even the chilly sea breeze or the lump of cold granite we were sitting on. Oh yes - you will need to take your warm winter woolies or better still some arctic proof clothing. Sorry but, an open air theatre in the UK? Really? With our summer weather?<br />
<br />
No, my woe and dispair was caused by something far simpler. I always check out the gift shops for thimbles whenever I visit somewhere new. Well I walked round the gift shop at Minack 3 times and never saw one. Plenty of pens, book marks and sweatshirts but no thimbles. I think this must be the very first place I have ever visited where I couldn't buy a thimble. I feel so betrayed. *sob* *sniff*<br />
<br />
Anyway, even though I don't have a Minack Theatre thimble, I do have some butterflies to share with you:<br />
<br />

<br />
I find pewter amazing. It's such a workable material, made up from 90% tin mixed with copper and a few other things that I have never heard of such as Antimony and Bismuth. I had to look those last two up on Google. Apparently they are chemical elements.<br />
<br />
Pewter has been around for a long time. Mostly famous for making utensils, tankards and plates, its pliable nature lends itself to souvenirs, models, curios and thimbles. <br />
<br />
The designs on many Pewter items can be really detailed.<br />
<br />
Like this narrowboat... otherwise known as a canal boat or barge. An invaluable mode of transport in the Industrial Revolution. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4SlI2xLu9wZswFuHxm9kXsU6noJEl4vxlh_wXgtA2ZbN_vhjaBlMc9faRaskdF1vUp7K3xvy6n3hmC6QDRlZtWuRNRi-HdK_1dA_QHj3hCIln2CoMdmyYeA7r2LGjhFxFcBJPohKg1t4/s1600/001_Pewter+CAnal+Boat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="294" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4SlI2xLu9wZswFuHxm9kXsU6noJEl4vxlh_wXgtA2ZbN_vhjaBlMc9faRaskdF1vUp7K3xvy6n3hmC6QDRlZtWuRNRi-HdK_1dA_QHj3hCIln2CoMdmyYeA7r2LGjhFxFcBJPohKg1t4/s320/001_Pewter+CAnal+Boat.jpg" t8="true" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Or this dragon... with its pointed sharp claws and long tail that spans the whole diameter of the thimble. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Or these swans... their majestic grace just radiates as they swim effortlessly around the base. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
"I saw a Mouse. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Where?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There on the stair.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Where on the stair?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Right there!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A little Mouse with cloggs on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well I declare!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Going clipp clippity clop on the stair." </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The words above are from the song "Windmill in Old Amsterdam" sung by Ronnie Hilton back in the 1960's. Now, I don't remember him singing it - no, really - I'm not that old! But, I do remember singing the song in music lessons at school. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There's something about a traditional style windmill that just conjours up peace, tranquility and a little bit of good old romantic nostalgia of childhood and the lazy, hazy days of summers long gone. </div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I found this pewtar windmill on Ebay for 99p. I seem to be getting a lot of thimbles for 99p just lately! I thought it was just adorable so had to go for it. I just love the way the little sails turn round. It's so sweet. </div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anyway, like the rest of the pewtar thimbles I have, this one is purely decorative and not really a true thimble as such. It hasn't got any dimbles and although it can be put on a finger or a thumb, the sails going around all the time would make sewing a little tricky. It's what I like to call thimble-esque. </div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Windmills like this one are a bit thin on the ground in the UK now. We have lots of modern ones though...</div>

<br />
Ummm.... Yeah... don't think you'll find many mice wearing cloggs in these. They just don't have the same appeal do they?<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7CnCNryS8DQ17OusjdDbZVp_AOwoeY4X_y_tW-x2JjQJc5nNQsOwz2k9dFfHDXXocpFuiJSykvQTwnJ5owH1riQ728N0ow5EYAmPAhu3nYJ1N760rMdGSHjD73BRXyQuQzm7-Sal3Ed8/s1600/001_Glencoe.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" j6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7CnCNryS8DQ17OusjdDbZVp_AOwoeY4X_y_tW-x2JjQJc5nNQsOwz2k9dFfHDXXocpFuiJSykvQTwnJ5owH1riQ728N0ow5EYAmPAhu3nYJ1N760rMdGSHjD73BRXyQuQzm7-Sal3Ed8/s200/001_Glencoe.jpg" width="152" /></a></div>
A friend of mine recently returned from a trip to Scotland and gave me this thimble. I've never been to Scotland and this thimble has given me another place to add to my "what to visit in Scotland one day list". <br />
<br />
<div style="border-color: currentcolor; border-style: none; border-width: medium;">
Although I have heard of Glencoe, I thought it was a skiing resort. Well, it is but there is a lot more to it than that. It is situated on the west side of Scotland, overlooking Loch Leven. Fort William and Ben Nevis are to the North and Oban to the South. It's stunning scenery has led to it being used as the backdrop in a few movies - "The Highlander" "Rob Roy" and more recently the "Harry Potter" series. </div>
<div style="border-color: currentcolor; border-style: none; border-width: medium;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-color: currentcolor; border-style: none; border-width: medium;">
This thimble, also from Scotland, came in a bulk purchase of thimbles from Ebay a couple of years ago. </div>
<div class="separator" style="border-color: currentcolor; border-style: none; border-width: medium; clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9NieZgUVfLeYg3hKfx6veTxbLLUJZuUYeNf1KhoUqEUYrQ2OdMkCd4aaTk1_Svob_nkwlZPWY0COqzOqHXBwXEPAkFa5WwZRt8gEtb5v6YaX3lRmM6nl2xmA16hAlIGOcwKQT746zzNQ/s1600/001_Old+Leanach+Cottage.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" j6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9NieZgUVfLeYg3hKfx6veTxbLLUJZuUYeNf1KhoUqEUYrQ2OdMkCd4aaTk1_Svob_nkwlZPWY0COqzOqHXBwXEPAkFa5WwZRt8gEtb5v6YaX3lRmM6nl2xmA16hAlIGOcwKQT746zzNQ/s200/001_Old+Leanach+Cottage.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-color: currentcolor; border-style: none; border-width: medium; clear: both; text-align: left;">
Old Leanach Cottage is on Culloden Moor which is near Inverness. Culloden is the location of a very famous battle from the Jacobite uprising. The Jacobites were supporters of Bonnie Prince Charlie and the House of Stuart. The House of Stuart lost the British throne when James VII of Scotland & II of England was exiled to France. The Jacobites wanted the throne returned to the Stuarts. </div>
<div class="separator" style="border-color: currentcolor; border-style: none; border-width: medium; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-color: currentcolor; border-style: none; border-width: medium; clear: both; text-align: left;">
The Battle of Culloden took place in April 1746 and was where Jacobites came to blows with the supporters of the reigning House of Hanover in a fierce and gory battle. The battle raged all around the cottage and yet when the fighting was over, it was left standing. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about the Jacobites. They lost close to 2,000 men and the Battle of Culloden was their last stand. </div>
<div class="separator" style="border-color: currentcolor; border-style: none; border-width: medium; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-color: currentcolor; border-style: none; border-width: medium; clear: both; text-align: left;">
The cottage is still there and is one of the places that I have on my list of things to see in Scotland. Along with Glencoe, Ben Nevis, Loch Ness... I think I'm going to need a bit longer than a day!</div>
<div class="separator" style="border-color: currentcolor; border-style: none; border-width: medium; clear: both; text-align: left;">

Where it was made, what it was made from, has it got signs of use. The history behind every thimble is just fascinating.<br />
<br />
A few weeks ago I was contacted by a lady who was keen to find out about a thimble that she had inherited. The thimble had been passed down through the female line for at least three generations. <br />
<br />
There wasn't too much to go on, but using the little bits that she had sent through and my trusty research tool, the internet, I was able to track down the thimble's origins.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The thimble was from Taxco in Mexico and very similar to the one shown here. Now, up until that point I hadn't heard of Taxco so researching the information for her was an absolute joy. It opened up a whole new world of thimbles that I didn't know existed. <br />
<br />
Back in the 1920s an American called William Spratling moved to Taxco de Alarcon in Mexico. He found out that the area had once had a thriving silver industry thanks to the ample supply of silver deposits. <br />
<br />
In the 1930s he set up workshops and began teaching the art of silversmithing to apprentices from the local area. Once trained, the apprentices could go on to set up their own jewellery workshops to continue their new trade. The silver industry and the economy of the area was rejuvenated. <br />
<br />
I managed to purchase my own Taxco thimble on Ebay last week. As the picture above shows, it has an all over decorative filigree design and is also stamped with the following markings:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimM-IHi5ZBkauehfZS8vSBHE6qL0d1UhVoQ521oIsi1fkVgxzNKzYxc90GewJSoyBJyQ6SoJ0GlSD9EptPu4GASXM0NV8Pkzeekw28_2LXqvL4lFZJ3RO6yFjlOmLW1m1QMciJM9uUIww/s1600/001_DSC_0301.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" s5="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimM-IHi5ZBkauehfZS8vSBHE6qL0d1UhVoQ521oIsi1fkVgxzNKzYxc90GewJSoyBJyQ6SoJ0GlSD9EptPu4GASXM0NV8Pkzeekw28_2LXqvL4lFZJ3RO6yFjlOmLW1m1QMciJM9uUIww/s320/001_DSC_0301.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>The circle in the centre reads "Sterling, Taxco, Mexico". The initials in the centre are the maker's mark. I'm not sure what the splodge is to the right of the circle as its too small to decipher properly. So I'll give it my best guess and say that it could be the eagle mark. If it is, then it would date this thimble to between 1948 and the 1970s, ish or thereabouts. <br />
<br />
Unfortunately, the drawback of buying thimbles second hand is that you don't tend to find out the human side of the story. I don't know if this one was ever handed down from mother to daughter, or even if the daughter used it to learn sewing at her mother's knee. One thing I do know is that the lady who contacted me has a very precious link to her own personal history through her thimble. A link which is just simply priceless. <br />
<br />
Bye for now<br />

These days the most powerful methods are probably the television and the internet. Both tend to get taken for granted and its hard for us living in a technology driven world to imagine what life was like before the internet or even the good old Telly.<br />
<br />
The first electronically transmitted television pictures were sent in 1926 but it wasn't until much later, probably the 1950s/1960s when most households would be able to get a TV. The world wide web has only been in public use since the 1990s. <br />
<br />
Now advertising has been around a lot longer than that, so what did people use? Newspapers? Radio? Well, why not pop your product on a thimble?<br />
<br />
</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvF6WwtfdeDIBIuGZBgSWiQb5TNgD_-YAdj-rDStQHuWNGCly_jPgNjKSPbnWk9bBczNF1W_LeAUJJ30wh7QLuKuMWGYNU-W-TYZGEAJ0Va6NS2NP4SBRi4af0f276TzrIuuV7UAw1wSM/s1600/Use+Hudsons+Soap.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="316" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvF6WwtfdeDIBIuGZBgSWiQb5TNgD_-YAdj-rDStQHuWNGCly_jPgNjKSPbnWk9bBczNF1W_LeAUJJ30wh7QLuKuMWGYNU-W-TYZGEAJ0Va6NS2NP4SBRi4af0f276TzrIuuV7UAw1wSM/s320/Use+Hudsons+Soap.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This thimble is brass and has the wording "Use Hudson's Soaps" right around the base. The vertical lines surrounding the wording, could indicate that this was possibly made by Charles Iles of Birmingham, a thimble maker who specialised in base metals.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> Now, I think this is quite clever advertising. What better way to highlight your product then by popping it on an item used to possibly mend or make a piece of clothing which would need washing at some point. What do you need to wash clothes - soap, or in this case dry soap powder. Hudson's was founded by Robert Spear Hudson in 1837. He began grinding down the course soap available at the time to make finer flakes. Today, we would know this product as washing powder. Hudson's Soap was eventually sold to Lever Brothers in 1908, who in turn merged with Margarine Unie and became Unilever in 1930. The name Hudson's was in use until 1935. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> Just goes to show that advertising is always at it's best when it's simple but effective!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Bye for Now</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I really can't believe how fast this year has gone. It just seems like yesterday that I was stood in the porch at our last home, taking this picture for one of my earlier blogs back in 2009. <br />
<br />
These little guys were part of our decorations year on year but I haven't been able to put them out this Christmas. I couldn't find them. I know roughly where they are - they are in a box. It's the location of the box that's the puzzle. That's the trouble with moving house, things don't tend to stay where you saw them last. I know they will turn up - eventually. <br />
<br />
2010 has turned into a year that none of us here at chateau Simply will forget in a hurry. It's left a large and sometimes painful dint in all of us. But, we are all still together and we are going to get through this bad patch. We have each other and that's what matters. There are people out there suffering pain and loss to such an extent that what we have been through is insignificant. My heart goes out to them, especially today. <br />
<br />
I'd like to raise a glass to wish peace, happiness and goodwill to all. Here's to a happier and prosperous 2011. The year when some, if not all of our hopes and dreams can come true.<br />
<br />
Bye for now<br />

All you have to go on is a picture and a brief description. Now I love the internet. To me shopping has never been easier. My Christmas shopping is nearly all done and I haven't had to stand in a queue once! It's great! You don't get soaked when it rains or slip over on icy footpaths.<br />
<br />
My thimble collection owes its size to the internet. There's no way I could have got anywhere near the 300 plus that I have without the internet but even I know that, sometimes, you don't always get what you expected.<br />
<br />
Take these little penquins for instance.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRgtx8zhiruItL09WelvXHBv5_gh1Aidv61DZz8cfFZ2-j6FKOvBpzCssu2HvrV2sFP9NBfGj8tf1FVoqO0UmmsTuS_bAJnaZcvtmNQ_f8YZlQxJrPZo7mxMLeTgspv37y19hp6xCkubU/s1600/Penguins.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRgtx8zhiruItL09WelvXHBv5_gh1Aidv61DZz8cfFZ2-j6FKOvBpzCssu2HvrV2sFP9NBfGj8tf1FVoqO0UmmsTuS_bAJnaZcvtmNQ_f8YZlQxJrPZo7mxMLeTgspv37y19hp6xCkubU/s320/Penguins.jpg" width="273" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Cute aren't they? Really sweet. The description read large penguins. I assumed that it meant a thimble with a large picture of penguins so into my checkout basket it went.<br />
<br />
As always when I get a new thimble through the post, I'm filled with excited glee. When I opened this one I was also totally gobsmacked...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx2xgIbkW96RpUpOW01N_9355rgdGi68nakck85R6A_hHp7sHllYqVmcFwseb2SGjG2f9a4Z-mMvDeQcmVh1SwlULfBgxnqGNIcINM-PyXwn6UUwGK9O9DwhMT_0R_jlchREl8LBrJPoM/s1600/Size+difference.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="205" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx2xgIbkW96RpUpOW01N_9355rgdGi68nakck85R6A_hHp7sHllYqVmcFwseb2SGjG2f9a4Z-mMvDeQcmVh1SwlULfBgxnqGNIcINM-PyXwn6UUwGK9O9DwhMT_0R_jlchREl8LBrJPoM/s320/Size+difference.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
It's not large - It's huge! I've photographed it with Goofy so that you can see the size difference. Goofy is the standard size. I wasn't expecting that. They are adorable though aren't they?<br />
<br />
Bye for now<br />
